Mira Murati, OpenAI's Chief Technology Officer, announced her resignation via a post on X.
After six and a half years with the company, she stated that her decision followed much reflection.
Born on December 16, 1988, Murati attended Pearson United World College in Canada on a scholarship.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Colby College and a Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College.
Her career began as a Summer Analyst at Goldman Sachs, followed by a role as an Advanced Concepts Engineer at Zodiac Aerospace.
She then worked as a Senior Product Manager at Tesla before joining OpenAI in 2018 as VP of Applied AI & Partnerships, eventually becoming CTO.
In a previous interview, Murati highlighted the need for diverse perspectives in discussions about AI's societal impact, urging the inclusion of voices from various fields, including philosophy and the humanities.
