Mira Murati, OpenAI's Chief Technology Officer, announced her resignation via a post on X.

After six and a half years with the company, she stated that her decision followed much reflection.

Born on December 16, 1988, Murati attended Pearson United World College in Canada on a scholarship.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Colby College and a Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College.

Her career began as a Summer Analyst at Goldman Sachs, followed by a role as an Advanced Concepts Engineer at Zodiac Aerospace.

She then worked as a Senior Product Manager at Tesla before joining OpenAI in 2018 as VP of Applied AI & Partnerships, eventually becoming CTO.

In a previous interview, Murati highlighted the need for diverse perspectives in discussions about AI's societal impact, urging the inclusion of voices from various fields, including philosophy and the humanities. Following her resignation news, interest in her has surged, making "Mira Murati" a trending name on Google.

She explained that she is stepping away to allow time for personal exploration while ensuring a smooth transition for the team she cherishes.
