India has launched three PARAM Rudra Supercomputers as part of the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), a significant step in advancing scientific computing

PARAM Rudra Supercomputers Overview:

Purpose: Designed for advanced research in the below-mentioned areas. 

Astronomy: Supporting the GMRT in Pune to study Fast Radio Bursts.

Material Science: Assisting the IUAC in Delhi with new materials research.

Cosmology & Earth Sciences: Facilitating research at the SN Bose Centre in Kolkata.

Importance of Supercomputers

 These systems enhance capabilities in climate modeling, drug discovery, and precise weather forecasting, benefiting sectors like agriculture and disaster management.

National Supercomputing Mission (NSM):

The NSM aims to promote technological self-reliance in India. Launched in 2015, it is supportedby MeitY and DST, and implemented by C-DAC and IISc.

Additional Developments:

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated two HPC systems, Arka and Arunika, to improve weather prediction capabilities, including critical events like cyclones and heatwaves.
