The Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) will hold a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday to demand justice for a trainee doctor who was allegedly murdered and sexually assaulted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.

The protest will also call for better security measures for healthcare workers.

Doctors in various states have been protesting, asking for justice and improved safety laws.

The case has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Calcutta High Court, and Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, has been arrested in connection with the case.

Dr. Suvrankar Datta from FAIMA has urged doctors to join the protest from 3 pm to 5 pm on August 31 to show their support and push for increased security in hospitals.

Additionally, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Kolkata has suspended Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, as part of the ongoing CBI investigation.
