Futures In Divergent Trading

Gold futures declined Rs6 to Rs73,509 per 10 grams amid weak global cues. Silver prices rose Rs522 to Rs89,702 per kilogram in futures trade as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand. On Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery traded lower by Rs6 or 0.01 per cent at Rs73,509 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 15,321 lots. Analysts attributed the fall in gold prices to weak global cues. Globally, gold prices went down by 0.04 per cent to $2,609.60 per ounce in New York.

On MCX, silver contracts for December delivery increased Rs522 or 0.59 per cent to Rs89,702 per kg in 26,177 lots. Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mainly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend. Globally, silver was trading 0.29 per cent higher at $31.17 per ounce in New York.
