We stand by our commitment against RINL privatisation, Jagan tells union leaders

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to oppose the NDA Government's decision to privatise Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL).

He told the union leaders during his campaigning here that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, set up after sacrifices made during 'Visakha Ukku Andhrula Hakku' is pride of Telugu people, he said and declared "come what may YSRCP will not allow RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to go to private hands."

Reddy made the promise when Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Samithi leaders met him at the Endada stay point.

The union leaders discussed the Vizag Steel Plant issue and the coking coal crisis faced by it now with the Chief Minister.

Reddy said the State Government and the YSRCP stand in support of VSP workers on privatisation issue. He said he has been reiterating their support for the steel plant workers. The party has also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing solutions for the steel plant issue.

The Chief Minister said "we have passed a resolution in the Assembly opposing the privatisation of the steel plant. In this regard, both the State Government and the YSRCP maintain an unwavering stance."

He alleged that the Opposition parties led by TDP, who formed an alliance, have abandoned their moral principles and values concerning the steel plant issue, thus exposing their opportunities politics.

Reddy said permanent allocation of iron ore mines will significantly improve the plant's condition. "We are tirelessly working towards the revival of the VSP, exerting constant pressure on the Central Government. YSRCP has the moral high ground to seek the support of VSP workers' s in this election," he stated.
