Reliance Retail, a prominent Indian retailer, has entered the fast-growing snacks segment through a partnership with General Mills, a leading US-based multinational manufacturer of processed consumer foods. Reliance Retail's step-down FMCG arm, Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), recently announced its venture into the western snacks category with the launch of Alan's Bugles in the Indian market. This move signifies Reliance's ambition to expand its presence in the FMCG sector.

Alan's Bugles, offered under the RCPL brand, promises to deliver a premium snacking experience at affordable prices. With flavors such as Original (Salted), Tomato, and Cheese, the product will be priced starting from ₹10. The initial launch of Alan's Bugles will take place in Kerala and will subsequently be expanded nationwide.

A spokesperson from RCPL emphasized that the introduction of Alan's snacks, starting with Bugles, is another strategic step towards broadening their reach in the FMCG market. General Mills India Finance Director, Sheshadri Savalgi, expressed excitement about bringing Bugles, one of their globally beloved brands, to India. Bugles are renowned for their iconic cone shape, corn-based composition, and light and airy crunch. General Mills is eager to witness Indian consumers relishing Bugles, much like their counterparts worldwide.

RCPL, as the FMCG division of Reliance, has been actively expanding its portfolio through recent acquisitions. These include notable beverage brands like Campa, Sosyo, and Raskik, daily essentials marketed under Independence, confectionery products under Toffeeman, biscuits under Maliban, and home and personal care items under Glimmer and Dozo, among others.

Reliance Retail has set its sights on becoming a significant player in the USD 110-billion FMCG segment. By partnering with General Mills and launching Alan's Bugles, the company is further bolstering its position in the FMCG market and catering to the growing demand for snacks in India.
