Vijayawada Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of Public sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power on Sunday said it is keen on supporting Andhra Pradesh in enhancing energy efficiency in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to help ensure economic stability, overall all wellbeing and fostering a sustainable future.

EESL is exploring the possibility to impart global technologies in AP MSMEs apart from various other States in the country. During a high-level meeting with EESL and State Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Municipal Administration & Urban Development and Industries departments, Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy said that the State Government is strongly committed to implement energy efficiency programmes with utmost dedication.

This initiative is poised to contribute to the realisation of the primary objective of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to ensure 24x7 reliable and quality power supply particularly for industries and the domestic sector, he said.

The power utilities in AP have met energy demand of 263 million units on June 17, which was an all-time record. Under the present scenario, promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy plays a major role to meet the power requirements of the people. Several prominent industrialists across the globe are choosing Andhra Pradesh because of the transparent industrial policies of the State Government with strong determination of Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary said adding the government has focused on developing infrastructure and to promote industrialisation and support to MSMEs to generate more employment opportunities.

Recognising that the growth and development of entrepreneurship are vital for economic progress, the Chief Secretary underscored the crucial role played by MSMEs as the driving force behind the State and national economies. The Chief Secretary mentioned that factoring the hardships faced by the MSMEs during Covid-19 pandemic, the AP Government has come up with a Rs1,110-crore “ReSTART” Policy boost. This was to provide great relief at a time when the economy had come to a standstill, severely affecting the livelihoods of thousands dependent on the MSME sector during Covid period.

Responding to the comment of Chief Secretary, Chief Executive Officer of EESL Vishal Kapoor expressed the organisation’s unwavering readiness to support Andhra Pradesh including all other States in any area or project related to energy efficiency which contributes 50 per cent in addressing climate change and also helps for enhancement of economy.
