Accelerating the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) unveiled the 23rd Edition of the Energy Efficiency Summit, taking place on September 11th and 12th, 2024, at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Hyderabad, India. This year’s Summit will focus on the theme: “Accelerating the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy Through Energy Efficiency.”

This brings together leading experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore innovative strategies and solutions for advancing energy efficiency and achieving a sustainable, net-zero future.

Dr. Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), shared insights into national energy efficiency policies and initiatives, emphasizing the role of regulatory frameworks in driving sustainable energy practices. “The progress we have seen across industries is truly reassuring for us at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The tangible impacts and value created by these efforts reinforce our confidence that energy efficiency will continue to play a critical role in achieving our carbon emission goals,” said Dr. Kumar.

“The challenges ahead cannot be overlooked. As a country with resource and carbon limitations, it is imperative that we recognize the hurdles and work towards fast-tracking solutions. By marrying new technologies with innovative approaches, we can overcome the obstacles and drive sustainable growth,” he further noted. “Together, we have the potential to unlock unprecedented advancements in energy efficiency and ensure a brighter, greener future for India.”

Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, Chairman of the Energy Efficiency Council and President of Danfoss Industries Pvt Ltd. gave an insightful speech on the country’s energy efficiency landscape. He said, “India is on a transformative journey towards energy efficiency and decarbonization, positioning us to achieve the nation’s ambitious net-zero goals.” “With two-thirds of our country yet to be built, we have an incredible opportunity to shape it into a sustainable future. By leveraging the power of knowledge and technology, we can co-create and collaborate to drive advancements in energy efficiency,” he added.

The 23 rd Edition of the Energy Efficiency Summit marks the Silver Jubilee of the CII National Award for Excellence in Energy Management and includes three sector-focused conferences: the Power Plant Summit 2024, PaperTech 2024, and Green Sugar Summit 2024. Featuring 100+speakers, the summit will cover innovations across 18+ sectors, attracting over 2000 delegates from government, private sectors, and major organizations. The event will also host 80+exhibitors presenting the latest energy efficiency technologies and solutions.
