CS Setty is the new SBI boss

After having interacted all the three eligible SBI MDs for promotion to SBI Chairman post, FSIB, the government head-hunter for finding the top PSU executive, has recommended the name of CSSetty (58), who is the senior-most among the four serving MDs of the bank,

Three out of the four serving MDs of the country’s largest lender, SBI, were in fray for the post of the bank’s chairman.

The present SBI chairman, Dinesh Khara will be superannuating on August 28 when he turns 63, which also happens to be the upper age limit for the position.

Apart from Setty, the two MDs of the bank, who also appeared for the interview, included Ashwini Tewari and Vinay Tonse. The fourth AlokChoudhary was not invited for the interaction as he will be superannuating on June 30. Post FSIB recommendation, the matter has gone to the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

FSIB is headed by BhanuPratap Sharma, former secretary of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The members of the government-appointed selection panel are Financial Services Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises Secretary and an RBI Deputy Governor.
