On September 6, 2024, Vistara flight UK 27, traveling from Mumbai to Frankfurt, was diverted to Erzurum Airport in Turkey due to a security threat. The airline announced on X, "Flight UK27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA) has been diverted to Turkey (Erzurum airport) due to security reasons and has landed safely at 19:05 hours."

A Vistara spokesperson elaborated, "The security concern was identified by our crew onboard. The aircraft safely landed at Erzurum Airport. In line with our protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately notified, and we are fully cooperating with security agencies to conduct mandatory security checks. The safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft are our top priorities."

The crew onboard reported the security issue, leading to the immediate alert to the authorities.

This incident follows another recent security scare involving an IndiGo flight. Earlier this month, IndiGo flight 6E-7308 from Jabalpur to Hyderabad was diverted to Nagpur due to a bomb threat. IndiGo's statement revealed that a bomb threat message was found onboard, prompting mandatory security checks after the aircraft landed. Passengers were provided assistance and refreshments. A police official confirmed that the threat message was discovered in the aircraft's bathroom, but no suspicious items were found during the security checks.
