The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the assessment year 2023-24 ended on July 31, and no extension was entertained by the IT department.

If you're awaiting a refund, delays may occur for the following reasons:

1. Additional Information: The Income Tax Department may request more details, causing delays.

2. Calculation Errors: Discrepancies between your return and the department's records can delay refunds. Correct any errors and, if needed, file a rectification return under Section 139(4).

3. Incorrect Bank Details: Ensure the bank account number provided is accurate. Mismatches can delay refunds.

4. Unverified Bank Account: Only pre-validated accounts receive refunds. Confirm your account is authenticated and your IFSC code is updated.

5. Form 26AS Mismatch: Delays can occur if TDS information does not match Form 26AS.
