Kalki' to 'Angry Young Men': OTT releases this week 

It's time for your weekly update on the newest streaming services, and the selection of films and TV series over the next seven days will satisfy all of your binge-watching desires. The highly anticipated digital premiere of Kalki 2898 AD, Namrata Rao's docuseries Angry Young Men: The Salim-Javed Story and new seasons of Pachinko and That '90s Show.

KALKI 2898 AD- Netflix

After a blockbuster run at the box office, Kalki 2898 AD is gearing up for its digital premiere. This ambitious film combines Indian mythology with futuristic sci-fi, set in a post-apocalyptic world where darkness prevails and nature is nearly extinct. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the characters struggle through the ruins of civilisation; the film delves into themes of hope, destiny, and the timeless battle between good and evil. It stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Hassan.

RAAYAN- Amazon Prime Video

Directed by and starring Dhanush, this Tamil-language action-drama is a gritty exploration of the criminal underworld and marks the actor’s 50th film. The story centers on Kathavaraayan “Raayan,” a seemingly ordinary man pulled into a world of gangsters and deceit. As Raayan climbs the ranks, he finds himself caught in a perilous power struggle with formidable rivals portrayed by SJ Suryah and Prakash Raj.

THE FROG- Netflix

The Frog is a South Korean suspense thriller that immerses viewers in the eerie world of Jeon Young-ha, who manages a secluded motel nestled deep in the forest. His tranquil existence is shattered by the arrival of enigmatic guests, including the unsettling Goo Sang-Joon and the mysterious Yoo Seong-ha. Each harbours secrets that begin to unravel the peace of this isolated retreat. As tensions escalate, local police chief Yoon Bo-min investigates the strange events at the motel.

PACHINKO Season 2- Apple TV

Pachinko Season 2 continues the epic saga of the Korean immigrant family introduced in the first season, exploring new eras and locations. This season delves further into Sunja's life during the tumultuous period of World War II in Osaka, 1945, as she grapples with dangerous choices to safeguard her family amidst the wartime chaos. Concurrently, in Tokyo in 1989, her grandson Solomon faces the complexities of his business endeavours and the repercussions of his past decisions.

INCOMING- Netflix

Incoming is an R-rated teen comedy that follows four high school freshmen as they dive into the chaos and thrill of their first real high school party—a rite of passage marked by both laughter and heartache. Led by an ensemble cast including Bobby Cannavale and Kaitlin Olson, the film brings a fresh twist to the classic teen comedy genre. With its mix of outrageous humour and authentic teenage experiences, Incoming channels the spirit of films like American Pie, Project X, and Superbad.

IN THE LAND OF SAINTS AND SINNERS- Lionsgate Play

In the Land of Saints and Sinners is a gritty action thriller set against the rugged backdrop of 1970s rural Ireland. Liam Neeson stars as Finbar Murphy, a former hitman seeking redemption in the quiet village of Glencolmcille. His peaceful existence is shattered when a group of terrorists, led by the merciless Doireann McCann (Kerry Condon), descends upon the town. As Finbar is pulled back into a violent world, he must confront his dark past and navigate a dangerous game.

FOLLOW KAR LO YAAR- Amazon Prime Video

Follow Kar Lo Yaar is an unscripted reality series that provides an intimate look into the life of Uorfi Javed, the provocative social media influencer and actress renowned for her daring fashion and candid personality. Over the course of nine episodes, the show explores Uorfi's daily life, showcasing her interactions with paparazzi, her unfiltered thoughts, and the challenges she faces in the limelight. This series reveals a side of Uorfi that’s rarely seen.

DRIVE AWAY DOLLS- Jio Cinema

Drive-Away Dolls is a comedy road-trip film that chronicles the wild escapades of Jamie (Margaret Qualley), a free-spirited woman dealing with a breakup, and her reserved best friend Marian (Geraldine Viswanathan), who is ready to break out of her comfort zone. The pair sets off on an impromptu road trip from Philadelphia to Tallahassee, only to find their journey chaotic when they unwittingly become entangled with criminals pursuing a mysterious briefcase hidden in their car.

THAT 90’s- Part 3- Netflix

That '90s Show returns to the nostalgic world of Point Place in 1996 with its third season, where Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) comes back for another summer under the watchful eyes of her grandparents, Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp). Picking up after the chaotic finale of Part 2, which saw Jay and Silent Bob unexpectedly crashing their car into the Forman house, this season opens with Red and Kitty back from their Paris trip to find their home in disarray.

PRETTY GUARDIAN SAILOR MOON COSMOS- Netflix

This much-awaited continuation of the Sailor Moon Crystal saga brings to life the last arc of the renowned manga by Naoko Takeuchi. The movie begins with an epic struggle against the powerful Shadow Galactica, a malevolent organisation that is out to take over the universe by stealing Sailor Crystals, which are essential to life. Princess Kakyuu and the enigmatic Sailor Starlights join Sailor Moon and her devoted Sailor Guardians as they take on their most formidable adversary to date.

TERROR TUESDAY- Netflix

Terror Tuesday: Extreme is a Thai horror anthology series inspired by the legendary radio show Angkhan Khlumpong (Terror Tuesday). The series, featuring eight standalone episodes directed by a different filmmaker, reimagines some of the radio show's most chilling tales for a visually intense experience. The episodes delve into themes such as haunted bridal gowns, cursed houses, eerie family secrets, and supernatural encounters, exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche.
