What are the key focus areas for Amazon Prime in India in 2024?

Amazon Prime membership has been designed to cater to everyday shopping and entertainment needs of customers. Keeping customer centricity at the core much like everything else at Amazon, Prime has also been designed to meet the evolving needs of customers. At Prime, we remain focused on strengthening Prime membership program by offering customized tiered plans at different price points to cater to different customer segments. Alongside strengthening our selection of items available for same day and sub-same day delivery has continued to remain our core focus. Furthermore, we will continue to make efforts to make Prime the most loved membership in India which not only fulfils shopping and entertainment needs of our customers but also delivers value, savings along with other benefits.

How does Amazon Prime ensure the fastest speed, maximum value, and savings for its customers?

We’ve continued to strengthen our focus towards delivery speeds for Prime members with the expansion of our same-day delivery network. Globally, after delivering at our fastest speeds ever in 2023, Amazon has set a new delivery speeds record for Prime members, with more than 5 billion items arriving the same or next day, so far this year (2024) In India, so far in 2024, nearly 50 per cent of all Prime member orders across a wide selection of products from eye liners to baby products, to garden tools, to watches, to phones, have arrived the next-day, same-day, or faster.

With the help of AI, we’ve been able to serve customers faster at scale. We’ve leveraged the power of machine learning to expand our selection of products, bring them closer to customers, and stock more everyday essentials that our customers order and re-order consistently.

Our fulfilment centres provide storage space to lakhs of sellers across 15 states. We have sortation centres across 19 states working with over 1,950 delivery stations operated by Amazon and local entrepreneurs, and our 28,000 third-party delivery partners to deliver smiles to customers across the country. Amazon India delivers to 100 per cent serviceable pin codes.

Amazon Prime provides the best of savings in one single membership. In India, members get unlimited 5 per cent cashback on all purchases using their co-branded ICICI credit card, access to exclusive deals, early and exclusive access to our shopping events including Prime Day.

Amazon continues to make investments to make Prime the most loved membership in India and drive the value awareness through the Prime co-branded credit card initiative and help grow overall Prime shopping engagement. These include multi-benefit membership delivering high value proposition, providing an elevated saving experience, helping members save across categories (fresh, beauty & fashion, electronics and much more), and ensuring early access to great deals and sale events such as Prime Day, Amazon Great Indian Festival among others.

India is one of the top priority markets for Amazon and we have continuously been strengthening our extensive fulfilment centre network, distribution, and delivery stations across India to enhancing our last mile capabilities. Today, we proudly offer an extensive catalogue of over 10 lakh items for same-day delivery and 40 lakh items for next-day delivery - a testament to our ever-expanding selection and our ongoing efforts to optimize delivery speeds.
