Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to establish an MSME park in each Assembly constituency over the next five years to boost the number of MSMEs in districts that currently account for less than 10 per cent of the total. This initiative aims to achieve a 20 per cent growth in these areas, according to the Director of Industries.

Speaking at the Summit on Demystifying Telangana’s New MSME policy, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry – Telangana Chapter, Dr G Malsur, Director – Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana, said: “Between ORR and RRR, we will be setting up five exclusive parks for MSMEs, and one MSME park in each district. However, to grow the number of MSMEs by 20 per cent, the government is planning to have one MSME park in each constituency, over the next five years.”

Further explaining the reason behind this decision he said that some of these constituencies in remote areas have many women self help groups that operate in specific activities. “Each district has a unique product managed by these SHGs established in small places of constituencies. We will like to bring this activity under one single umbrella supported by the government in terms of providing coworking space, marketing facility and others.”

On a query about implementation of the new MSME policy, Malsur told Bizz Buzz that they are in the process of formulating the guidelines, which is expected to be ready in another four to five days. He added, “Industry dept will follow the policy, but as other government departments have to facilitate the facilities to MSMEs, we have to make them follow the policy. We will issue guidelines in the form of GO (government order) to the labour department for skill training, for providing land the revenue department is involved, and so on. With these guidelines in place, MSMEs can easily avail the facilities drawn under the new policy, after a week.”

When asked about features in the new policy that are exclusive to the State, he highlighted the Rs 100 crore Yantram Fund, and facilitation of bulk purchased digital technology at discounted rates for MSME clusters and industrial parks.

Malsur, who also holds the additional charge of Director Sugar, and Commissioner Cane, informed his plan of reviving the Nizam Deccan Sugar factories.
