Telangana Medicos, Senior Residents Continue Strike Demanding Security Assurance

Medicos and senior resident doctors at Telangana’s government teaching hospitals and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) will maintain their indefinite strike, including a boycott of outpatient services, elective surgeries, and academic activities.
Their protest continues until the State government provides a written guarantee addressing security concerns.
Despite national medical associations suspending their protests after the Supreme Court intervened in a Kolkata case, Telangana’s medical community remains dissatisfied.
They demand a formal assurance from the State government within two weeks to resolve safety issues in medical institutions.
The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) and the NIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) have both insisted on a written, time-bound commitment from the State government.
They seek immediate revisions to the Telangana Medical Services Persons and Medicare Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2008, and the Special Protection Force (SPF) Act, along with a new Central Protection Act Ordinance.
