The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared its backing for the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, commencing on July 26. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced on social media the organisation's support of Rs 8.5 crore to support Team India at the upcoming Olympics. He also extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent, urging them to make the nation proud. Shah's statement on X read, ‘’I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!’’
India's delegation to the Paris Olympics will include 117 athletes. The final contingent of 257 members includes 140 support staff. Athletics will have the most members in the contingent, with 29 (11 women and 18 men), followed by shooting (21) and hockey (19). Table Tennis will be represented by eight players, while badminton will have seven competitors. Wrestling, archery, and boxing will each send six representatives, followed by golf (4), tennis (3), swimming (2), sailing (2), and one each for equestrian, judo, rowing, and weightlifting.
