The Ministry of Culture is gearing up to launch the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Hyderabad, paying homage to the enduring legacy of Ghantasala. This move comes as a significant step to bolster the representation of the Akademi in South India, a region rich in cultural heritage. Plans are underway to establish a cutting-edge center dedicated to fostering research and documentation across various art forms including music, folk and tribal arts, theater, and puppetry. This initiative aims to serve as a premier cultural hub, nurturing the vibrant cultural landscape of the state.

Ghantasala, a revered musician, freedom fighter, and Padma Awardee, continues to resonate deeply with music enthusiasts worldwide. In commemoration of his centenary celebrations, the Ministry of Culture has proposed the construction of an auditorium named "Bharat Kala Mandapam" within the premises of the "Dakshin Bharat Sanskritik Kendra" at the CCRT Campus in Madhapur, Hyderabad.

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the "Bharat Kala Mandapam" auditorium and the inauguration of the South India Cultural Centre of the Sangeet Nataka Akademi Dakshin Bharat Sanskritik Kendra is scheduled for Monday, 12th February at 5:00 PM at Shilpa Kala Vedika, Hitech City, Hyderabad. The event will feature a cultural program celebrating Ghantasala's contributions, with esteemed guests including former Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu and Shri G Kishan Reddy set to inaugurate the center.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Culture will use this occasion to honor recent Padma awardees from the Telugu states, including recipients of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri awards.
