Wellnesys Technologies in collaboration with IIT Mandi, develops 'YogiFi' innovative yoga mat

An innovative yoga mat, known as 'YogiFi', has been developed by Wellnesys Technologies Private Ltd, a startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. The mat incorporates advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision (CV) technologies to deliver a personalized yoga coaching experience.

The YogiFi mat was recently presented to several Union Ministers, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Railways, I&B and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The introduction of this mat marks a significant leap in the at-home yoga experience, offering users the comfort and flexibility of practicing yoga anywhere with real-time feedback and coaching.

The YogiFi mat features an innovative sensor layer that accurately tracks the user's yoga postures and provides instant suggestions for correcting alignment and form. This cutting-edge technology enables a more effective and safer yoga practice, ensuring that users perform each pose correctly and maximize the benefits of their yoga sessions.

Developed with support from the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) iHub at IIT Mandi and funded under the NM-ICPS program by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), YogiFi is a fully indigenous product, contributing to the 'Make in India' initiative. The mat aims to make yogasana training more accessible and engaging, with interactive classes and personalized coaching that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The YogiFi Smart Mat is designed to seamlessly integrate with other smart home devices, creating an ideal environment for yoga practice by adjusting the lighting, sound, and temperature settings to enhance the overall experience. This smart mat represents a significant step forward in combining traditional wellness practices with modern technology to create a more immersive and effective yoga experience.
