Telangana State Medical Council cracks down on 45 unlicensed practitioners in Hyderabad
In a decisive move against unqualified medical practitioners, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has recently conducted extensive raids targeting clinics operated by nearly 45 unlicensed individuals. The council’s specialized teams inspected facilities across Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Parigi, Tandur, and Moinabad, focusing on locations where individuals without MBBS qualifications were practicing medicine.
Over the past week, TSMC’s teams uncovered 20 unlicensed practitioners operating in Hyderabad alone, in areas such as LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Moosarambagh, Vanasthalipuram, Gurram Guda, and Shaheed Nagar. Vice Chairman of TSMC, Dr. G. Srinivas, stated, “Fake doctors are posing a serious threat to public health, particularly to vulnerable communities. They have been found illegally prescribing antibiotics, steroids, and even narcotic injections, endangering lives.”
Further inspections were conducted outside Hyderabad, in Vikarabad, Parigi, Tandur, and Moinabad, revealing additional unlicensed operations. So far, TSMC has filed cases against 20 such practitioners under the NMC Act sections 34 and 54. Chairman of TSMC, Dr. K. Mahesh Kumar, confirmed that 300 FIRs have been lodged across Telangana, with further actions expected as inspections continue.
