State Government Approves KBR Park Project to Alleviate Traffic in Hyderabad

The State Government has sanctioned projects worth approximately ₹826 crore for the improvement of six junctions around KBR Park, as announced by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Friday.

The orders provide an administrative sanction of ₹421 crore under the H-CITI initiative for the construction of flyovers and an underpass at the Jubilee Hills Checkpost, KBR Entrance, and Mugdha Junction. An additional ₹405 crore has been allocated for the junctions at Filmnagar, Maharaja Agrasen, and Cancer Hospital.

According to the GHMC, the construction of grade separators at these six major junctions will ensure smooth traffic flow without hindrances across the identified crossroads. The designs aim to create a conflict-free area that allows for uninterrupted traffic movement. Vehicles travelling clockwise will use a series of underpasses, while counterclockwise traffic will navigate through a series of flyovers. Additionally, designs for rainwater retention structures have been integrated into the underpasses to prevent bottlenecks during the monsoon season.

This junction improvement initiative seeks to address heavy traffic congestion near KBR Park, which experiences high volumes of work-related, business, and commercial traffic due to its proximity to software companies in Madhapur, Hitech City, Gachibowli, and Kondapur.

- Y-shaped underpass from Road No. 45 to KBR and Yousufguda

- Four-lane flyover from KBR Park entrance junction toward Road No. 36

- Two-lane flyover from Yousufguda toward Road No. 45 junction

KBR Entrance and Mugdha Junction:

- Two-lane underpass from Jubilee Hills Checkpost toward Cancer Hospital junction

- Three-lane unidirectional route from Punjagutta toward Jubilee Hills Checkpost

- Three-lane underpass from KBR entrance junction toward Punjagutta

Package II (₹405 crore)

Road No. 45 Junction:

- Two-lane underpass from Filmnagar junction toward Jubilee Hills Checkpost

- Two-lane flyover from Jubilee Hills Checkpost toward Road No. 45

Filmnagar Junction:

- Two-lane underpass from Maharaja Agrasen junction toward Road No. 45

- Two-lane flyover from Filmnagar Junction toward Maharaja Agrasen Junction

Maharaja Agrasen Junction:

- Two-lane underpass from Cancer Hospital Junction toward Filmnagar Junction
