On Tuesday, the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) inaugurated its new Research and Development (R&D) Center in Patancheru, aimed at advancing mineral processing and sustainable steel technology.

NMDC has invested strategically in R&D, with over Rs. 150 crores allocated in the past five years, including Rs. 50 crores for this new facility.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge) of NMDC, alongside Dilip Kumar Mohanty, Director (Production), Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), B. Vishwanath, CVO, and other senior NMDC officials.

Spanning eight acres, the R&D Center features advanced instruments such as automated mineral analysers and fusion bead-based X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysers, ensuring accurate mineral characterization.

It also includes facilities for pelletization studies, critical for future commercial pellet plant installations.NMDC, Patancher, mineral processing, steel, R&D Centre
