Hyderabad police crack down on cybercrime, Arrest 52 including senior bank officials

In a major crackdown on cybercrime, the Hyderabad Cybercrimes unit arrested 52 individuals, including three senior bank officials, during a special operation conducted across multiple states. The operation led to the detection of 33 major cases involving trading fraud, job scams, social media fraud, digital fraud, investment fraud, data theft, and other cyber offenses.
City Police Commissioner CV Anand revealed that the arrested bank officials—Shubham Kumar Jha (Deputy Manager, RBL Bank, Bangalore), Haroon Rasheed Imamuddin Dharawad (Assistant Vice-President, Axis Bank, Bangalore), and Kata Srinivasa Rao (Sales Manager, Kotak Mahindra Bank)—were involved in a ₹2.98 crore trading fraud. They allegedly misused their positions to authorize unauthorized transactions, bypass security protocols, and recruit unsuspecting customers into fraudulent schemes.
The arrested individuals were linked to 576 cases nationwide, including 74 from Telangana, with a total fraud amount of ₹88.3 crore. Police seized ₹87.90 lakh worth of assets, including mobile phones, ATM cards, passbooks, laptops, shell stamps, Aadhar and PAN cards, cryptocurrency worth ₹40 lakh, and ₹47.90 lakh in cash. Additionally, ₹2.87 crore was frozen in the accused's bank accounts.
The special operation, conducted in coordination with police forces from Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, and Hyderabad, was based on advanced intelligence and investigative techniques. Commissioner Anand emphasized that the crackdown was a crucial step in dismantling cyber fraud networks operating across India.
