Hyderabad Metro land acquisition in old city gains momentum
The land acquisition for the metro rail project in Hyderabad's Old City is picking up speed, focusing on the 7.5-kilometer stretch from MGBS to Chandrayangutta. Efforts are underway to acquire 1,100 identified properties, with the process advancing rapidly.
NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML), reported that requisitions for 900 properties have been submitted to the District Collector under the Land Acquisition Act. The Collector has issued preliminary notifications for 800 properties in phases and completed preliminary declarations for 400 of these properties. Awards for compensation for 200 affected properties are expected to be finalized by the end of this month, allowing for immediate compensation and the commencement of demolition work.
Reddy emphasized that negotiations with the owners of the affected properties are ongoing. He assured that during the road expansion and metro construction, all religious and historical structures will be preserved using engineering solutions.
