On Thursday, HYDRAA officials demolished several buildings at Prakruthi Resorts in Thumkunta Municipality for building on Komati Kunta Lake in Devaryamjal village without permission. The structures were located in the lake's Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones. These included a fully constructed G+3 building, an almost completed building, three buildings under construction, a gazebo, and compound walls.
Local residents had raised concerns about the illegal buildings during HYDRAA's Prajavani program. After an investigation, HYDRAA, with help from the irrigation, revenue, and municipal departments, confirmed that the resort was built within the lake’s FTL area without the required permissions. As a result, notices were sent to the resort’s management.
The resort owners challenged the notices in the High Court. However, the court agreed with HYDRAA’s findings that the structures were illegally built in the FTL and buffer zones, ordering their removal. Despite the court case, the resort management requested an additional 30 days to remove the buildings. When they failed to act within the deadline, HYDRAA proceeded with the demolitions.
HYDRAA officials emphasized that they had sufficient evidence and were able to carry out the demolitions. They also encouraged the public to report illegal constructions so that proper investigations could be conducted.
