In a heartfelt act of generosity, the family of Padma Rani, Railway Chief Pharmacist, consented to donate her corneas following her passing. Padma Rani, a resident of Secunderabad, succumbed to a chronic illness on Monday at the Railway Hospital in Mettuguda.
A multifaceted personality, Padma Rani was not only a dedicated pharmacist but also a celebrated poet, writer, and cartoonist.
The initiative for the cornea donation was facilitated by Ganji Eswara Lingam and Pallavol Ramana, founders of the Amma Eye, Organ, and Body Donation Promoters Association. Working with the Vasan Eye Bank, the duo ensured that the corneas would reach patients in need.
Expressing their gratitude, the association thanked Padma Rani’s husband, Rambabu, and daughter, Ramya, for their support in making this noble gesture possible.
