Hyderabad cafe landed in legal soup for mixing whisky in ice cream
The food scene in Hyderabad has grown immensely, with food outlets popping up on nearly every corner. To stand out, these establishments often introduce unique offers, flavors, and concepts to draw in customers. However, in their quest for novelty, they must ensure they don’t compromise consumer health.
Recently, a cafe in Hyderabad found itself in hot water for adding whisky to its ice cream. Located in Jubilee Hills, the cafe was serving an ice-cream flavor mixed with whisky, adding about 60 ml of whisky to each kilogram of ice cream. This unique offering had reportedly become popular among children and youth.
The cafe promoted its whisky ice cream through social media, catching the attention of Excise and Enforcement officials. Upon investigation, officials raided the cafe's two outlets and confirmed the reports. They seized 23 pieces and 11.5 kilograms of whisky ice cream and filed a case against the cafe’s owner. The investigation is ongoing.
