The city is gearing up for a significant drop in temperatures as meteorologists predict an intense cold spell in the coming days. Hyderabad’s minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 15.6 degrees Celsius, remaining steady with no deviation from the seasonal average. The maximum temperature reached 29.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, marginally higher by 0.5 degrees Celsius than usual.
Relative humidity levels stood at 78 per cent during the morning hours, while evening data was unavailable. According to the seven-day forecast, Hyderabad is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with haze through January 13. Minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 15 degrees Celsius to 16 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures will range from 28 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.
However, a strong cold wave is anticipated to affect northern Telangana from Wednesday to Saturday, with temperatures potentially dipping to as low as 5 degrees Celsius. Hyderabad and other regions in Telangana are forecast to experience the brunt of the cold wave on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to drop by 7 degrees Celsius to 9 degrees Celsius.
The cold wave conditions are expected to persist beyond January 11, maintaining chilly weather through the Sankranti festival.
