Foxconn to set up facility in Hyderabad, says minister Sridhar Babu
IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu confirmed that Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn will soon establish its facility in Hyderabad. Addressing a query during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, he refuted rumors that the company was considering other States for its new setup.
Minister Sridhar Babu clarified that the reports of Foxconn shifting its plans to other States were unfounded. He emphasized that Foxconn, which already has bases in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Gujarat, is expanding its operations by establishing different verticals in various locations. "A facility will definitely come up in Hyderabad," he assured.
The IT Minister also mentioned that an official announcement from Foxconn regarding this development would be made shortly. He highlighted the State government's proactive efforts in facilitating the establishment of the company's facility in Hyderabad.
Additionally, Minister Sridhar Babu spoke about the Global Capability Centre (GCC) initiative, noting that the renowned hotel chain Marriott has chosen Hyderabad for its first GCC. The centre has begun operations with 300 employees and is expected to create over 20,000 jobs in the region.
