The 139th birth anniversary of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, was observed with solemnity and reverence on Sunday. Several historians, family members, and admirers gathered at Masjid-e-Judi in King Kothi, where the Nizam is buried, to pay floral tributes.

Among those who participated in the commemoration were Nawab Mir Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of Mir Osman Ali Khan, and noted historian Anuradha Reddy, along with many others from various walks of life. The gathering reflected on the legacy of the Nizam and his contributions to the development of Hyderabad and the erstwhile Hyderabad State.

Speaking on the occasion, Najaf Ali Khan described his grandfather as a secular and visionary ruler, whose contributions continue to be remembered and respected. He appealed to the State government to officially recognize the Nizam's contributions by celebrating his birth anniversary as a public holiday.

The event served as a reminder of Mir Osman Ali Khan’s lasting impact on Hyderabad’s infrastructure, education, and public welfare systems — elements that still form the backbone of the city today.
