Hyderabad: Telangana’s Principal Secretary to Education, B Venkatesham, along with Secretaries of other welfare departments, called on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to express gratitude for the enhancement of diet and cosmetic charges for students in social welfare hostels.
The Telangana government has announced an increase in diet charges: from Rs 950 to Rs 1,330 for students in classes three to seven, from Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,540 for classes eight to ten, and from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100 for Intermediate to postgraduate students. This increase is expected to benefit 765,705 students across the State. Responding to the increase of the diet charges, the Secretaries said, “The People’s government has announced a Diwali gift for the students of all government hostels, including SC, ST, BC, Minority institutions, and Telangana Residential Educational Institution Society (TREIS) hostels in the State, by increasing the cosmetic and diet charges.”
The Chief Minister has ordered the officials to introduce the new diet in the hostels within next 10 days. In this direction, he suggested the authorities to make the required changes in the food provided to the students every day in these hostels so as to include a diet packed with nutrition.
