Telangana To Focus On Energy Efficiency With BEE Support

Hyderabad: under the directions of the State government, with the support of the Ministry of Power and MNRE, the energy department here has committed to reach the target of setting up 20GW re-newable power by 2030, and implement energy efficiency and green energy measures.
On the occasion of National Energy Conservation week, observed from December 14 to 20, 2024, the Media Adviser wing of Southern States, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India alongwith V Aneela, Managing Director, TGREDCO met Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary, Energy and Finance, Government of Telangana, in Hyderabad.
During the discussion, thanking BEE and EESL, (a JV of Central PSU’s under Ministry of
Power for promotion of energy efficiency) for their support, the Principal Secretary highlighted the State’s commitments in implementing energy efficiency and green energy measures. “Under the guidance of the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and continuous monitoring by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, the Energy Department has prioritised round-the-clock power supply to the consumers with special focus on Industrial power supply for employ-ment generation, economic development and attracting sizable investments,” Sandeep Kumar Sultania, said.
He further said that to make Schoolchildren habituated to energy conservation, with the financial support of BEE, the Telangana department of Energy has established more than 165 energy clubs. “We are equally focusing on sustainability of energy efficiency and conservation among women community through self-help groups and TGREDCO,” he added.
Referring to the various activities taken up for promoting energy efficiency, with the support of BEE, the officers of TGREDCO listed the initiatives including: setting up of Energy Efficiency Financing Platform (EEFP) that facilitates interaction with Financial Institutions and project de-velopers (Industry, ESCOs, OEMs) for implementation of energy efficiency projects. TGRED-CO officers also said that recently they conducted two Investment Bazaar events in the State, broadcasted Jingle on Energy Conservation in All India Radio channel, and telecasted adver-tisement on Electric Vehicle, and BEE-star-labelled appliances to create awareness among general public.
