Bengaluru: Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), Telangana is aiming to improve service delivery for over one crore citizens and enhance productivity of the government employees by more than 20 per cent over the next three years.

A report titled, ‘AI Powered Telangana Strategy Document and Implementation Roadmap’, was unveiled by A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, dentified six critical pillars to enable an AI-powered growth in the State.

“Six critical pillars have been identified to enable an AI-powered Telangana. Those are AI Direction Setting, AI Equipped Government, AI Ready Local Datasets & Models, AI Enhanced Ecosystem, AI for Population, & AI Future Ready City,” the report said. To keep Telangana at the forefront of Indian IT revolution, the State wants to upskill around five lakh AI professionals by 2027.

“To cater to the growing demand for AI professionals in the job market, the State will train five lakh professionals in AI specialisations by 2027 through a mix of formal education and digital initiatives. AI curriculum will be introduced in senior secondary public schools to democratise access to AI skills & careers from an early age,” the report said.

The report also noted that the State government will launch Telangana Data Exchange Platform (TGDex) for driving innovation in the AI space.

“The government will launch the Telangana Data Exchange Platform (TGDex), enabling access to quality data for innovators in the ecosystem and fuelling AI-powered innovation through a collaborative approach, it said.

Importantly, the report pointed out that generative AI will be used to improve governance in the State.
