The Telangana Group-1 candidates have filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of GEO 29 issued by the state government.

They have requested the postponement of the examination until the verdict is delivered. In the petition, it was stated that the Chief Minister is not paying attention to the implementation of GEO 55.

The Supreme Court has adjourned further hearings to Monday. The Group-I candidates are seeking the cancellation of GEO 29, issued on February 8, which amends GEO 55 from 2022 regarding reservations for disabled persons.

They argue that injustice is being done to disabled candidates, as those who have scored higher marks than general category candidates are still classified as unreserved.

Even if they score more marks, they want candidates below a 1:50 ratio to be considered for the mains, classifying them as reservation category.

In light of the dispute regarding reservations for the disabled, some candidates requested a halt to the Group-1 exams, but the High Court refused.

The High Court rejected the request to quash the notification and adjourned the hearing, stating that appointments will be subject to the final judgment.

In this context, the Group-1 candidates approached the Supreme Court.
