The Telangana State government is accelerating efforts to mobilise funds for the top-priority construction of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and is considering taking loans from financial institutions.

Spanning approximately 350 kilometres, the RRR will be constructed in two phases: the northern part from Sangareddy to Choutuppal, and the southern part from Choutuppal to Sangareddy.

According to officials, the construction of the project will cost Rs 31,000 crore.

The first phase involves the construction of the northern section, which is around 161 kilometres long and requires 1,940 hectares of land, at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore.

Officials say that Rs 5,000 crore is needed for land acquisition compensation, with the state government covering 50 percent of this amount.

The state also proposes to seek Rs 3,000 crore from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), under the Union Urban Development Ministry. To secure this loan from HUDCO, the state must provide a guarantee.

Recently, HUDCO approved a Rs 5,500 crore loan for the Pune Regional Ring Road project in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing to call for tenders for the construction of the northern part of the Telangana RRR.
