Hyderabad: Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City, described Sri City as a thriving global business hub.
He recently addressed the 48th Joint Meeting of the India-Japan Business Cooperation Committee (IJBCC) and Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee (JIBCC) in New Delhi. Themed ‘Building India-Japan Strategic Partnerships for Industrial Growth and Regional Development,’ the event brought together leading industry figures and a high-level Japanese business delegation.
Speaking at the plenary session on ‘Building a Robust Supply Chain Ecosystem for the Future’, he underscored Sri City’s pivotal role in reinforcing India’s participation in Japan’s Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI). As India’s second-largest Japanese industrial township, Sri City host is home to 31 Japanese companies - including Isuzu, Unicharm, Daikin, and THK - along with their supply chain partners. He highlighted how the co-location of OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), Tier-1, and Tier-2 suppliers within Sri City has optimised efficiency, minimised lead times, and streamlined production and logistics. Industry, education, and sustainability, he emphasised, remain central to Sri City’s vision.
Reaffirming Sri City’s top-of-mind recall for Japanese investors, he noted that in the last three months, delegations from Hiroshima, Toyama, and Ehime visited the business city, reinforcing its appeal for both Japanese SMEs and major corporations.
He also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s leadership in Ease of Doing Business. Under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s governance, the State is now prioritising speed and cost efficiency, with Sri City standing out as the premier investment destination, he added
The event saw the participation of ONO Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India; Sibi George, Indian Ambassador to Japan (virtually); Onkar S Kanwar, Chairman, IJBCC; Tatsuo Yasunaga, Chairman, JIBCC; and Gaku Yoda, Deputy Director General, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, alongside senior industry figures and policymakers.
