This disclosure has reignited outrage among environmentalists, scholars, and residers who have been demanding an immediate halt to the land concurrence. Protesters argue that the Telangana government’s conduct violate environmental impact.
Going by the satellite images, with every fleeting hour, Kancha Gachibowli’s forest cover is evaporating, raising questions about governance, responsibility, and the price of development at the cost of Hyderabad’s terrain.
On Wednesday, a Telangana High Court bench heard two public interest actions filed by retired scientist Kalapala Babu Rao and Vata Foundation on Wednesday and directed Advocate General A Sudarshan Reddy to insure that no farther destruction or slice of trees should take place till Thursday in the matter pertaining to 400 acres of land at Kancha Gachibowli in Serilingampally mandal.
Meanwhile, the Union Minister for Forest and Environment Bhupendra Yadav has ordered the concerned department officers to incontinently shoot a report on Kancha Gachibowli lands.
On Tuesday, Telangana BJP MPs had requested him to intermediate in the matter of Kancha Gachibowli lands, saying that 400 acres of Kancha Gachibowli are biodiversity and heritage lands.
