Telangana favourable for semiconductor manufacturing plants — D Sridhar Babu, IT Minister
Hyderabad: Lenskart, a global leader in eyewear manufacturing, is establishing one of the world’s largest eyewear production facility in Telangana with an investment outlay of Rs1,500 crore. The facility, located in Tukkuguda’s non-SEZ General Park, will generate about 1,600 employment opportunities.
Minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu laid the foundation stone for the project here on Thursday. The production is set to begin within two years, with full-scale operations likely in the next four years. The Telangana government and Lenskart had entered a MoU, for this initiative, on December 8, 2024.
The facility will manufacture eyewear products for export to markets, including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Sridhar Babu further added that Telangana is ideal for the establishment of semiconductor manufacturing plants. He mentioned that the market value of India’s semiconductor industry is expected to reach $100 billion by 2030.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu stated that Telangana is committed to fostering industrial growth while creating meaningful employment opportunities for our youth.
