Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched the BFSI (Banking, Financial Service and Insurance) skill training programme in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The curriculum, approved by concerned universities’ Boards of Studies, will initially be embedded in the undergraduate programmes in 38 colleges.
For the roll-out of pilot, Telangana Council of Higher Education has identified 20 non-engineering and 18 engineering colleges (mostly autonomous). The coursework will be implemented for 10,000 students (5,000 Engineering, and 5,000 Non-engineering). The inception batch of 2024-25 will be trained with no cost to the student. For non-engineering colleges, the BFSI curriculum will be introduced as Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) in Generic Electives (GE). For engineering colleges, it will be offered as Minor Degree Programme and Accelerated Course.
After holding talks with the industry representatives of BFSI sector, the government had decided to facilitate in providing the required skilled workforce to these industries. Based on the proposals submitted by these BFSI players, the government had prepared an action plan to launch a skill development programme. “This initiative is crafted by industry leaders to ensure comprehensive, dynamic and holistic learning by providing domain, technological and behavioural skills. It will increase employability leveraging upon growing job market demands,” an official press release mentioned. Industries & IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and others took part in the launch event.
