Marriott Picks Hyderabad For Its First GCC In India

Hyderabad: Marriott International, Inc has chosen Hyderabad for its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India. Marriott Tech Accelerator is the first-ever GCC in the hospitality sector to enter the Indian market. The new facility will begin its full-scale operations by Q1, 2025. The GCC will leverage Hyderabad’s tech talent to enhance Marriott’s technology infrastructure, engineering capacity, and security capabilities across its global operations.
“Telangana has emerged as a global tech leader with over 200 GCCs driving business transformation. Our talent pool includes over 10 lakh GCC-ready tech professionals and 3.50 lakh AI and Chip designers, with an annual influx of 2.50 lakh engineers. This new GCC advances our vision of making Telangana a global hub for AI, Data Science, and IoT,” Duddila Sridhar Babu, Minister of Information Technology, Government of Telangana, said during the announcement.
He urged the Marriott leadership team to explore opportunities in opening hotels and establishing tech accelerator centers in tier-2 cities across Telangana, which would further bolster the state’s economic growth and decentralize development, the minister said.
The event was attended by key leaders from Marriott International, led by Drew Pinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue and Technology Officer. Naveen Manga, Global Chief Technology Officer, John Toomey, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Greg Martell, VP -Technology Business Management, Ashish Kale, Vice President of IT Operations, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Alexander Pyhan, Chief Transformation Officer, and Mansur Baig, Senior Area Director of IT Operations, South Asia, were also present.
