Hyderabad: Iceberg organic ice creams, has launched Organic Creamery, first company-owned outlet of premium organic ice cream. Set up at an investment of Rs 70 lakh, the store provides more than 36 flavours of ice cream. Customised varieties exclusive to this store includes regional sundaes called as Begum Ka Bazaar, Hi-Tech City’s Gentleman, Purane Pul Ke Miya Bhai, Lakdi-ka-pul-ka Badshah and Twin Cities Romeo.

Speaking at the launch, J D Lakshminarayana, a retired police officer turned politician, said: “I was told by the founder that some of the organic ingredients used in making these ice creams are A2 milk, organic butter, organic dhaga mishri, organic fruits, gondh gum, vegetable-extracted colours, organic cocoa, organic jaggery, and stevia. I was even told that the usage of gondh as a natural preservative ensures six months of shelf-life, for which they have applied for a patent.”

Applauding the founder, he said, “The man behind the brand, Suhas B Shetty is an entrepreneur with a difference known for his innovative approach. He has provided employment to 100 people directly and 350 indirectly. He also needs to be appreciated for the solar-powered factories.”

On a query about the level of organic elements in organic food, Lakshminarayana said that the certification process of organic food products has to be made more stringent with establishment of more number of labs providing tests at affordable cost to encourage more organic products to be produced. Iceberg is one of the early players to introduce Keto ice cream, leading them to bag orders for supply of this product to actor Hrithik Roshan’s co-owned brand, HRX Fitness. Iceberg offers ice creams ranging from classic options such as vanilla and butterscotch to organic fruit flavours such as sitaphal, tender coconut, chikoo, and guava. They have also developed flavours like charcoal, malai khurma, and gulab jamun.
