Hyderabad: The Geological Survey of India, here organised a Walkathon in commemoration of 175 years of Service to the Nation at Sanjeevaiah Children Park, Tank Bund, here on Sunday.

The GSI is a premier Geoscientific organisation established in 1851. It is the largest and second oldest Geological Survey in the world and is responsible for conducting Geoscientific surveys across the country, providing essential Earth Science information to the government, industry, and the public.

To commemorate its 175 years of service to the nation, GSI Southern Region (SR) and Training Institute (TI) in Hyderabad organized a Walkathon (Walking) event at Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park, Necklace Road. The primary objective of this Walkathon was to raise public awareness about GSI's 175 years of service to the nation's development. The event not only highlighted GSI’s contributions but also emphasized the importance of physical activity and mental well-being within the community.

SD Patbhaje, Additional Director General and Head of GSI Southern Region, inaugurated the event at 8 am in the presence of senior officers of GSI.
