FTCCI with QCI To Promote ZED Certification For MSMEs
Hyderabad: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), in collaboration with the National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP) and the Quality Council of India (QCI), organised an awareness programme on “ZED Certification & QCI Boards, Divisions Activities, and Benefits” on its premises here on Thursday. The event was held as part of QCI’s Gunvatta Yatra, aimed to educate industry professionals about quality certification programmes and their role in enhancing business competitiveness.
The session was addressed by C Venugopal, Advisor, NBQP, and Arif Ahmad, ZED Certified QCI expert, in the presence of FTCCI vice president KK Maheshwari, Srinivas Garimella, Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee, and T Sujatha, CEO, FTCCI.
In his opening remarks, KK Maheshwari highlighted the significance of the Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification Scheme, an initiative by the Government of India to help MSMEs adopt world-class practices while ensuring sustainability. He emphasized that such certifications enhance market competitiveness, promote quality excellence, and encourage environmentally responsible growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Venugopal elaborated on the role of QCI boards and divisions in accreditation, certification, and fostering a robust quality ecosystem in India. He also shared insights into the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Quality Bharat’, reinforcing the need for a nationwide quality movement.
Arif Ahmad provided a detailed overview of the ZED certification and LEAN schemes, explaining their benefits for the manufacturing sector. He discussed key features of the MSME Lean Scheme, which promotes global best practices such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Just-in-Time, and Six Sigma. These initiatives aim to improve efficiency, minimize waste, and enhance productivity.
