Hyderabad: The Hyderabad chapter of FLO (Ficci Ladies Organisation) said that women farmers have completed one season of growing vegetables after being trained in modern vegetable farming at Ravalkore village near Medchal.

Launched in May 2024, the Centre of Excellence for training women in vegetable farming teaches women the skills of cultivating, managing, and harvesting nearly 50 hybrid varieties of vegetables and greens. After completing a season of cultivation, the farmers showcased their produce recently.

“The project aims to build technical skills of women farmers with a focus on advanced agricultural practices that will not only ensure better productivity and improved quality, but also long-term sustainability of their farming efforts. In addition, the women are being imparted digital and financial literacy basics, go-to-market strategies, and various other sessions,” Chairperson of FLO Hyderabad, Priya Gazdar said.

The initiative, a collaboration between FLO Hyderabad and East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation, is training 100 women farmers from 16 villages with skills in commercial vegetable farming and

entrepreneurship.
