Discrimination Against Telangana: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu on Saturday slammed the Union Budget as unjust and biased in allocating funds to the State. He said that NDA-ruled states have been rewarded again, while Telangana has been sidelined.
“The Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has once again exposed the Centre’s deliberate bias against Telangana. While election-bound and NDA-ruled States have been lavishly rewarded, Telangana has been systematically sidelined,” the IT Minister said in an official release.
Laying down the bias in allocation of funds, Sridhar Babu said that, “Telangana remitted Rs 26,000 crore in taxes to the Centre. Despite contributing five per cent to the national GDP, Telangana has not received funds in proportion to its economic strength. Even as the overall budget increased by 12 per cent compared to last year, we have been neglected for political reasons.”
He informed that repeated requests to the Prime Minister and Union Ministers from the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka seeking Rs 1.63 lakh crore in financial aid has been ignored.
