With the onset of monsoon, Telangana is grappling with a surge in dengue and chikungunya cases.
Telangana Health Department has warned people about rising mosquito-borne diseases.
By now, the state has already registered over 100 more chikungunya cases in comparison to last year.
Many believe that fogging can prevent all types of mosquito diseases, but according to experts, it can only help prevent malaria as fogging is done between 6 pm to 8 pm.
Dengue and chikungunya are caused by mosquitoes that bite in the afternoon. So fogging in the evening has very little effect on other types of mosquito-borne diseases.
Experts believe following preventive measures is the best way to keep dengue and chikungunya at bay.
Some of the measures to be followed:
Eliminating stagnant water within the surroundings
Using mosquito nets
Wearing proper clothing
Following government advisories
Educating friends, family, and neighbours
