Coca-Cola to expand manufacturing unit in Telangana

Hyderabad: In a move to capitalize on the burgeoning growth prospects of Telangana, The Coca-Cola Company has unveiled plans for an expansion in the region.

Following high-level discussions between Telangana government officials and Coca-Cola executives, including Mr. Jonathan Reif, Head of Fiscal Policy, the company has committed to invest Rs 700 crore in establishing a new greenfield manufacturing plant in the state.

This expansion, facilitated through Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (HCCB), a wholly owned subsidiary, underscores Coca-Cola's confidence in the state's conducive industrial ecosystem.

The plant is slated to be situated in the Peddapalli district, with potential sites already identified for the unit. Minister for Industries and Commerce, D Sridhar Babu, emphasized the significance of this decision, calling it a pivotal moment for Telangana's industrial landscape.

He stated, "This marks a significant shift of new large-scale manufacturing capacities by multinational companies into the hinterland of the State away from Hyderabad, thereby leading to more distributed industrial growth in the State, in line with the priority of the new government."

In addition to bolstering manufacturing capabilities, the Telangana delegation proposed the establishment of a Coca-Cola Technology Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad.
