Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals has taken a significant leap in neurovascular care with the unveiling of its state-of-the-art NeuroCath Lab, designed to enhance stroke management and provide world-class neuro-interventional treatments. The lab, equipped with the cutting-edge Philips Azurion 2.2 Biplane system, offers advanced 2D and 3D imaging, ensuring faster, more precise diagnosis and inter-vention for stroke patients.
The facility, inaugurated by Dr G Chandrashekar Reddy, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minis-ter of Telangana, also includes a dedicated NeuroICU and a team of stroke specialists available around the clock. Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in India, with nearly 1.8 mil-lion cases reported annually, and a fatality rate above 30 per cent. AIG's new lab aims to address this growing crisis by providing timely interventions for conditions like ischemic strokes, brain aneurysms, and vascular abnormalities.
Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, emphasised the importance of time in stroke treatment, stating, “In stroke care, every minute counts. This facility will enable us to pro-vide efficient, world-class care to save lives and enhance quality of life.” The lab's advanced ca-pabilities allow for mechanical thrombectomy—a minimally invasive procedure to remove blood clots—offering a critical treatment option for ischemic stroke patients, where early intervention can drastically reduce brain damage.
