Hyderabad: Artificial Intelligence is going to impact repetitive jobs in the short term, however, it will generate employment opportunities from the next year, Founder Chairman of Cyient said.

Addressing the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) Leadership Conclave 2025, Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman and Board Member, Cyient, said: “As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to evolve, its impact on leadership, workplaces, and business strategies is becoming increasingly evident. There is a need for individuals and organisations to adapt to technological advancements to stay competitive.” He further said that while AI will impact repetitive jobs in the short term, it will generate huge employment opportunities from 2026-27.

During a fireside chat with PwC Partner Rajesh Duddu, Dr Reddy traced AI’s evolution back to 1961, when the first PhD in AI was awarded to an Indian, Raj Reddy at Stanford University.

He reflected on how AI has progressed from the early days of computing to today’s advanced applications, where it can process vast amounts of data and enhance decision-making.

Highlighting AI’s capabilities, he added, “Computers now have 130 per cent more processing power than humans in specific areas. For instance, a doctor analysing an X-ray can detect lung abnormalities, but AI can instantly assess the entire body for potential issues.”

Dr Reddy identified four major steps that India has to initiate, which includes, creating a competitive, and knowledgeable skill force, greater focus on R&D, build databases as fuel for AI is data, and protecting privacy aspect of data. Later in the day, Dean of Indian School of Business Madan Pillutla spoke about the importance of diversity in leadership and workforce hiring. Ganesh Natarajan, Chairman, Honeywell Automation in his presentation underscored the importance of skilling youth in AI and emerging technologies.
