ACB Files Case Against KTR In Formula E Case
India Today Telangana PPE Survey: With approval from Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, the ACB is expected to take action against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former minister K. T. Rama Rao in Formula E race case. The issue was debated during the State Cabinet session, which was presided over by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the Minister for Information and Public Relations, stated that the Governor has given the consent to bring KTR in the case which will be processed by the ACB as per the law. The Chief Secretary will submit the signed file of the Governor to the ACB tonight or Tuesday for review, said the minister. Srinivas Reddy refused to comment on KTR’s arrest when questioned by the media. Law will find its own way,’ he said.
The Congress government had earlier requested the Governor last month to allow ACB to file a case against KTR for alleged power grab and disbursement of funds for staging the Formula-E race. Affirmations are made that KTR, then minister for industry, authorised funds for the race in violation of the procedure.
If the Governor approves under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, ACB will soon file a complaint against KTR, issue him notices and raid some of the people and government officials who were involved in the alleged fraud.
The Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had said in January that the Formula E race was held last year by the previous administration for the benefit of a firm and Hyderabad and Telangana never got anything out of it.
The state at the time had agreed to pay Rs. 110 crores to the firm and of which Rs.55 crores were paid. The remainder had to be paid in two installments. FEO said it had no option but to issue a formal notice of breach of contract to MAUD.
