100-Foot NTR Statue and Knowledge Center to Transform Hyderabad Tourist Scene

The Telangana government has sanctioned land near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad for the installation of a 100-foot statue commemorating Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and acclaimed actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). Alongside the statue, an NTR Knowledge Center is set to be established to celebrate the legacy of the legendary figure.

On Thursday, NTR Literature Committee Chairman and former MLC T.D. Janardhan, accompanied by NTR’s son Nandamuri Mohanakrishna and committee member Madhusudhana Raju, met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The delegation briefed the Chief Minister on the committee’s initiatives and discussed their plans to honor NTR with the iconic statue and a cultural center.

The NTR Knowledge Center is envisioned as a hub for cultural and educational activities, aiming to position the site as a significant tourist attraction in Hyderabad. During the meeting, the committee sought government support for land allocation, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting NTR’s contributions to Telugu cinema and politics.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing NTR’s influence as a cultural and political icon for Telugu-speaking communities. He assured the committee of the government’s commitment to the project, describing it as a valuable addition to Telangana’s heritage and tourism.

Following the meeting, Janardhan expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support. He noted that the project has already generated excitement among NTR’s admirers and fans, who view the initiative as a fitting tribute to the Telugu film legend and former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
